A Commitment to the Future
It's an interesting time for me. Many of my close friends and family are getting married and starting their own families. I feel incredibly lucky to live in Germany, where there's no heavy social pressure to get married quickly. At times, I felt like life could continue smoothly without the need for marriage. I even have friends who have been in relationships for longer and haven't felt the need to tie the knot. It made me realize that marriage wasn't about fulfilling an expectation—it was something much more personal.
My job situation was stable; I could provide for myself and potentially a family too. As a software engineer, I felt valued, and I was surrounded by mentors from whom I could learn and grow. I felt confident in myself and my ability to keep getting better. So what comes next?
If you know someone who feels like a true companion, someone to share stories, adventures, and everyday moments with, it can be worth considering a commitment. As we grow older, friendships change, and having a partner who remains a close friend can be incredibly meaningful. So why not make the commitment?
That's how I feel—committing to a shared future is about wanting to keep building something together. I understand that everyone has their own perspective on this, and there's no right or wrong answer. It just feels right.
